Privacy
What we collect. What we don’t.
Plain disclosure for spawnapp.org — waitlist email, site analytics, and error reports. No corporate theater. No selling your data.
- No data selling
- Invite email only
- Apps stay local
- Honest analytics
Waitlist email
When you join early access, your email is sent to
POST /api/waitlist on this site. The server saves it to a
local waitlist file (best-effort — ephemeral on free hosting) and
dual-writes a durable copy to PostHog as a
waitlist_signup event (distinct id = your email).
We use that address for invite / waitlist updates only — not a newsletter drip, not a sales sequence. If you already signed up, a duplicate submit is ignored.
Site analytics
spawnapp.org uses PostHog (US cloud) for product
analytics: pageviews, pageleave, and custom
spawnTrack events. Person profiles are
identified_only — we don’t build rich profiles for
anonymous browsers by default.
Waitlist signup is also captured server-side so the list survives redeploys. Analytics help us see what pages convert and what’s broken — not to resell audiences.
Error monitoring
We load the Sentry browser SDK (deferred until the page is idle) in the production environment with a low traces sample rate. That catches client-side errors so we can fix the site — not track you across the web.
Your apps & secrets
Apps you build in Spawn stay on your machine until you choose to publish. Secrets and domain settings you configure in the builder are yours — they are not scraped from this marketing site.
This page covers spawnapp.org (the public marketing / waitlist site). The builder’s local data stays local until you Go Live.
On-site Build is different: apps you make there (their files and undo history) are stored in Spawn’s database so they survive site updates. They are tied to a random token kept in your browser’s local storage — we keep only a hash of it, no name or email. Delete a build from My builds to remove it, or download a zip to keep your own copy.
Cookies
PostHog may set analytics cookies so visits and events work reliably. The waitlist itself is an email POST — this marketing site does not use HttpOnly account-session cookies for waitlist signup.
If Spawn adds account auth on this site later, we’ll update this page to describe those cookies honestly.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not run a newsletter / pitch-deck drip off the waitlist.
- We do not claim fake “compliance badges” or invent a legal entity for theater.
- We do not hold your Spawn project files on this marketing host.
